Winter Basketball League

Page Youth Center is pleased to bring the Blenders Winter Basketball League back in 2021-2022. It’s the most popular recreational league to develop basketball skills for young athletes in grades 1st - 8th. Whether a child is a first-time player or has experience, the league offers a fun atmosphere for all levels to grow. It’s the largest youth recreational basketball league in SB County!

PYC’s Blenders Winter Basketball League provides an opportunity for kids to develop sportsmanship and teamwork skills and have fun competing to play in division championships. The season starts in December and ends in March. Every registered player will get a jersey. Prizes are awarded to the team that wins in each division championship and the team with the best record for their division during the season.

How do you select the teams?

Evaluations are held at PYC the first week of November. An evaluation schedule for all divisions will be sent via email. All players are required to participate in evaluations in order to be placed on a team. Coaches will be allowed to form teams in a rotational draft based on player evaluation data.

How will the evaluation process work?
Players will be evaluated by PYC SB MAGIC coaches and UCSB Gauchos players.

Who are your coaches?

Coaching is provided by parent and community volunteers. (Don’t worry if you have not coached before -- PYC provides a coaching handbook, online tutorials, an optional in-person coaching clinic, and Positive Coaching Alliance Training.) Background checks are done for all volunteer coaches.

How do I apply to be a coach?

You can find the coaching application here:

and one will be available when you register your player(s) online.

Are scholarships available?

Yes, scholarships are available based on financial need.

Where are the games played?

All games are played at Page Youth Center. PYC features live streaming of games so grandparents, family and friends can watch even if they aren’t local!

Where are practices held?

Practices are determined by coaches and held at local schools, churches, and community sites.

Are there volunteer requirements?

In addition to parents who volunteer to coach or assistant coach, we also ask parents to volunteer to be a scorekeeper at games or a team parent. Training and resources are provided for all volunteers.

Who can I contact with questions or for more information?
